Shopping With Mel

You climb through the freezer cabinet, hauling your body along a shelf through the frozen cheesecakes and neighboring tubs of Häagen-Dazs, till you get to the door at the back. You push it and it opens away from the shelves. You drop down and begin to descend the icy steps. The sound of echoing chants grows louder.

At the bottom of the steps you are greeted by someone who looks a little like the Irish singer Sinead O' Connor and someone who looks like the British comedian Frank Skinner. Both are dressed in what appear to be paramilitary uniforms. There is a door behind them from which the sound of chanting can be heard and which they seem to be guarding.

'How did you get in here?' asks the woman who looks like Sinead O'Connor.

You explain that you saw a door inside a supermarket freezer and climbed through a wall of cheesecake boxes to get through it.

'I told you it was a bad idea to have our emergency exit in the cheesecakes,' the man who looks and sounds like Frank Skinner says. 'We should have put it behind the frozen pastry. That stuff never sells out. Everyone loves cheesecake.'

'You know as well as I do how difficult it is to influence supermarket construction at the planning stage,' says the woman who looks so much like Sinead O'Connor you could swear she's not talking but is actually singing. 'Having a concealed entrance to our secret underground lair installed was hard enough, whoah-oh-ohhh! Getting a say in which foodstuffs are used hide it just isn't a possibility. Whoah-oh-ho-ohhh!'

'Yes,' says the man who looks like Frank Skinner. 'We've had this conversation many, many before.'

You've grown slightly bored during this brief passage of exposition. You interrupt to ask them where you are.

The man who looks like and dresses like Frank Skinner approaches you. 'You can come into this room,' he says, pointing towards the door. 'But once I let you in, I won't be able to let you leave. You'll have to stay with us forever. On the other hand, I can give you a pill which will erase everything of your memories of this place. You'll wake up back at your home, in your bed.'

Do you want to:

take the pill?
go into the room?
